Absence .... October flew by

- Posted in Uncategorized by

I just realised that I slept through last month, Well. Not really, but I should try and post more frequently.

Therefore in no particular or chronological order, I will add a picture and try to tell you about it.

Breakfast on October the first Breakfast on the first of October.

My Cousin from up north called for a couple of days, Sadly he was off the whisky, so I had to drink it all myself. Drove out to a place called Knot End where there is a ferry across to Fleetwood. Wandered around and found a chippy. I had Currywurst and chips , the others had fish n chips.

No picture of either, My find some and resize for this. mebee.

We also went back to Conishead Priory, Lovely place, Peaceful and calming woodland with nice little touches, One of which was this plaque on a bench. enter image description here The inscription is Anita Louise, Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. Loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

I thought that was so sweet.! However, we went at the weekend, The workd and his granny were there with their dogs,. running around, off the leads and poo a plenty, I thought I had arrived at bloody Crufts.

The Boss had to go for an eye test in town, Just across from the opticians is a little Turkish bistro, with some tables outside, So I ordered espresso and waited for the boss. A lovely waitress brought out my coffee with a side of turkish delight. enter image description here

On the way back to the carpark, we stopped at the Borough for some lunch. I ordered a small selection of lite bites, Tapas style, Or so I thought. It was more than I expected. enter image description here

RIP My Queen

- Posted in Uncategorized by

Thursday the 8th of September 2022. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth passed away aged 96. My. Queen

I never met this lady, Although I know a few who did, and they all say how nice she was. For a while she was my commander in chief, and I swore to obey her , her heirs and successors.

I remember when her father died back in 1952 I was in infant school and we were all taken into the school dining room to listen to the announcement on the wireless.

I am pleased I lived through her reign and may she Rest in Peace reunited with that politically incorrect old bugger Philip.

Plum picking time

- Posted in Uncategorized by

Plum picking time again, The boss makes jam from things, Plum is on my favourite list as it doesnt have pips. I am supposed to avoid pips and seeds.

The lady who used to live nearby always spelt plum "plumb". Her family were plumbers, so it may explain things. A bum of a plum.

Plum bum Bum Plum.

The Bus ride.

- Posted in Uncategorized by

Thursday, Boss wanted to go somewhere nice and not mooch around home all day.

First thought was a train to Skipton or Lancaster. Looked at the train times and remembered there is a strike so limited service.

Ok, what about the bus to somewhere. Options are Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale or Lancaster.

Decided we would go to Kirkby and have a wander round. Bus journey was ok, Got to Kirkby close to lunch time. Decided to eat then shop. Walked into Botanica, A lovely restaurant down a ginnel. Decided on "small plates", Dirty fries and Crispy Beef. Dirty Fries. Dirty Fries, with cheese and bacon

Crispy Beef, with chilli and cashews.

Absolutely fantastic meal, Along with lovely staff. I will be going back ! Botanica Kirkby

A unit of measure !

- Posted in Uncategorized by

As an old bloke, i still think in feet and inches . People tell me I am old and behind the times, Metric is the way to go. Just found this onine from Eric. (Quote). Oh, I don't know, let's pick a big number, say 10 million. And divide the Earth's circumference... no, pole-to-pole... no, oh heck, let's make it just a quarter of the way around. Why not? So one ten-millionth of a quarter of the circumference of the earth. That distance. That. We'll make that the standard way to measure everything!

Nobody would do anything that arbitrary and random and expect it to catch on :(

Except it did catch on. That's the meter. (end of quote) I am reminded that my maths teacher would say the metric system is designed for those who need their fingers to count.

Heatwave ?

- Posted in Uncategorized by

The sun is shining, The press, Media and Politicians are shouting Heatwave ! Probably because they want us all to panic and think the end of the world is upon us ! Maybe it is, What with Putin , Ukraine and Uncle Tom Cobbley.

However, be that as it may, I decided to have an iced coffee, or to be more precise, a coffee with ice. Then I would take it outside and sit under the shade of this rather large umbrella.

So espresso machine warming up, Ice cubes in a glass, and I go to put up the umbrella.

I need to align the canopy with the bracket and to do that I step onto the little coffee table we have in our cush.

Done it many times ! This time, it tipped up. !! I fell and landed on the table and logs etc.

No plasters in the house. Sellotape and kitchen roll Battered Legs

So we keep getting birds crashing into our windows. They often recover quickly and. fly away, but some dont !

Someone suggested putting cut outs of birds on the window.

So I tried, Image is my first attempt.
